| A late report of orcas in the Bay inspired me to get up and head down to Moss Landing for a chance to get in on the action. The Sanctuary had room, and the weather and swell cooporated nicely. Humpbacks at the beginning and end of the trip nicely framed a whole lot of action with orcas and a gray whale who's luck was running out. At one point, the gray whale was seeking shelter from the orcas, right next to our boat. By the time I switched lenses, it was too late. The close-up shot of its blow hole was with the telephoto at its widest. |
