02/10/10 Workshops

This year I will be teaching photography workshops, both private and small group. I will also be helping teach some of the Aperture Academy's San Francisco / Marin workshops.

Workshop Description: For this workshop, I will show you the techniques, equipment, and knowledge I use to capture the coastal landscapes from the Santa Cruz area up through the town of Davenport. Workshops will be customized to what you want to learn, and we will have fun while doing it!

Field Schedule: We will meet three hours before sunset. At this time we will work on what you feel you need to improve upon. This may include learning how to use the manual settings on your DSLR, integrating the use of filters to better capture a dynamic scene, or ways to improve composition and develop a unique style. During this time, we may move to another location to capture sunset and shoot for approximately 30-60 minutes after the sun has set.

Post Processing Schedule: After shooting, we will head back into town and review images for approximately two hours. I will offer suggestions for ways to improve exposures and compositions based on the images you captured. Tips and techniques will be discussed on how to improve your images using Photoshop. If you do not have a laptop, I will provide one for the review session. Alternatively, if you would like to spend the entire 6 hours shooting in the field, we can simply review images on the back of your camera in the field and skip any Photoshop lessons.

Pricing: Workshops are for 1-4 people. The first person is $295, each additional person pays $100. Due to the small group size, cancelations must be made at least 7 days prior to the scheduled date. If mother nature gets in the way, I will offer a full refund. That being said, foul weather can often make for dramatic images, so we can discuss our options as the date approaches.
