In an attempt to recreate the magic from Sunday, Tim and I headed to Point Lobos for two more kayak dives. Our first dive was in the proximity of Marco's Pinnacle, and the second was inside of Thumb's Up near the park boundary. Alas, the conditions have officially detetiorated, although the water hasn't decided to warm up much. The fog stayed around all today, the visibility on the outside was 20-40' (2' in the cove were the reports from some shore diving folks), and the surge was circular. At 55', while attempting to photograph some nice California hydrocoral (Stylaster californicus) I was being pushed around in a five foot diameter circle. The surge would lift, push, drop and push again in the opposite direction. Weeee!!! I did happen to spot my second ever (and second in the last month) mosshead warbonnet. I managed a quick stop in Moss Landing on the way home to say "hi" to the otters.
