Each year I have been to Big Sur aboard the Vision, the swell has been big and the wind has been viscious. I've always said I'd trade visibility for calmer conditions. Certainly the first two days of this year's trip had subpar vis. Although calmer than year's past, the surge was still a factor on Friday and Saturday. Here are some macro shots from the trip. Highlights included a juvenile Cabezon next to an octopus, dendronotid nudibranchs engaging in some reproductive behavior and walls of strawberry anemones and acorn barnacles.
