I love invertebrates. Really, I do. They are colorful,
diverse, always interesting. I was even the top student in my Invertebrate
Zoology course in college and studied polychaete worms during an intertidal
field quarter. But most of the time, they are still or slow moving. Perfect
for the underwater photographer. Marine mammals are different, much different.
Although I did not have much interest in studying them, I have a strong
desire to photograph them. Especially sea lions. Quick and graceful,
full of personality and playfullness, they are a thrill to photograph...or
attempt to photograph. This day, they ALL wanted to play. Lobos Rocks
is one of my favorite, if not #1, dive spots. Kayak diving there is not
for the faint of heart as even yours truly gets a quickened pulse for
much of the experience including the paddle out and back. Here are some
black and white conversions along with one left alone as the original
color for your viewing pleasure. |
