Whale #1 passes by |
Whale #2 goes for a dive

| There had been reports of humpback whales off of Monastery Beach for at least two and a half weeks and I almost passed up on an opportunity to go diving on my last day off before 21 straight days of work. But then I thought to myself, "What are you thinking?!?! Go diving off South Monastery looking for whales!" Although they made no underwater appearance, as you can see here, I did get a close encounter from the kayak. Fun stuff. Thanks to Eric Nelson for the documentation (and the smoked salmon, crackers, and IPA). Here are a couple shots from down below courtesy of yours truly. |
